Evaluation of biodiversity conservation during timber harvesting at logging enterprises of the Arkhangelsk region and the Republic of Karelia

North-West Russia		 Summary: Results of performed in 2015 comparative evaluation of biodiversity conservation during timber harvesting at FSC-certified and non-certified logging enterprises of North-West Russia (on the example of the Arkhangelsk region and the Republic of Karelia) are presented in the article. It's found out that significant improvement of the practice of conservation of biodiversity and forest landscape mosaic at the surveyed FSC-certified companies (in compare with non-certified ones) is absent. General recommendations to improve the biodiversity conservation during timber harvesting are outlined for logging enterprises, FSC-certification bodies, FSC Russian office.
