Summary: A large amount of wood processing waste has accumulated in the timber industry in Russia in recent years. One of the ways of their utilization can be processing into solid biofuels. To the most technologically advanced appearance of solid biofuels produced from wood waste are briquettes and pellets. This is an environmentally friendly fuel, the use of which increases environmental safety. In the analytical review, the stages of the technological process of production of fuel briquettes from sawdust are considered in detail. The characteristic of different types of briquettes is presented. The use of environmentally friendly binders based on plant polymers in the production of solid biofuels can improve their strength, water resistance and calorific value. The analysis showed high growth rates of biomass use for heat production, both in the private sector and in the district heating systems. Production of briquettes and pellets, is actively developing in Europe, in the US, Canada. Russia has the world's largest reserves of raw materials suitable for energy purposes. Significant volumes of solid fuel are produced and exported by Russian enterprises to foreign countries. The volume of domestic consumption of solid biofuels in our country increases significantly every year. Processing of wood waste into fuel briquettes and pellets is an environmentally friendly technology.
